Generic Name: Lamotrigine
Dosage Form: Scored tablets 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg
Pharmacologic Class: Antiepileptic
Indications: Used for the control of seizures and the treatment of bipolar disorder.
Lamixon®
Lamixon® (Lamotrigine) reduces neuronal activity through several mechanisms, including effects on neural signal conduction and neurotransmitter function. As a result, it helps to decrease the intensity and frequency of seizures and stabilize mood in patients.
Indications of Lamixon®
- Various types of epilepsy (partial and generalized)
- Bipolar disorder

How to Use and Dosage
Take Lamixon® exactly as prescribed by your physician.
If you are uncertain about how to take the medication correctly, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
To achieve the best therapeutic response, do not increase, decrease, or stop taking the medication without consulting a medical professional.
Lamixon® may be taken with or without food.
Do not chew or crush the tablets.
Missed Dose
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one.
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
If you take more than the prescribed amount, inform your doctor immediately or go to the nearest medical center.
Monitoring During Lamixon® Therapy
Before and during treatment, your physician may periodically monitor:
- Signs of severe hypersensitivity reactions
- Complete blood cell count and related symptoms (fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers, infection, bruising)
- Serum levels of other antiepileptic drugs
- Liver and kidney function tests
- ECG (electrocardiogram)
- Changes in disease symptoms or emergence of suicidal thoughts in bipolar patients
- Symptoms of aseptic meningitis (severe headache, photophobia, neck stiffness, fever)
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lamotrigine (symptoms may include rash, mucosal ulcers, severe itching or hives, swelling of lips, tongue, or throat with shortness of breath) or to any of the formulation components.
Warnings and Precautions
- Sudden discontinuation or rapid dose reduction may cause serious adverse effects or recurrent seizures. Taper the dose gradually under medical supervision.
- When used for bipolar disorder, contact your physician immediately if you experience worsening symptoms or suicidal thoughts.
- Seek urgent medical attention if you develop widespread allergic reactions with redness, swelling, blistering, skin detachment, red eyes, or mouth/throat ulcers.
- Certain medications may interact dangerously with lamotrigine. Always inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking.
- Inform your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney disease or a history of bariatric surgery.
- Lamotrigine may cause drowsiness or dizziness; avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the drug affects you.
Use During Pregnancy and Lactation
If lamotrigine is needed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult your doctor.
The decision to use it should be based on a careful assessment of potential benefits and risks.
Possible Side Effects
As with all medicines, some patients may experience side effects, though not everyone does.
Possible adverse reactions include:
- Headache, dizziness, double or blurred vision
- Balance disturbance (walking difficulty, lack of coordination)
- Sleep disorders (insomnia or drowsiness)
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, constipation, loss of appetite
- Tremor, depression, anxiety, irritability, speech difficulty, concentration issues
- Runny nose, sore throat, cough
- Skin rash or itching
- Painful menstruation, genital infection, amenorrhea

Packaging
Each pack contains 30 tablets (3 blister strips of 10 tablets each).
Storage Conditions
- Store below 30 °C, away from light and moisture.
- Use before the expiry date printed on the package.
- Do not use expired medicines.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not remove the tablets from the original blister until use.
