Generic Name: Metoprolol Tartrate
Dosage Form: Film-coated and scored tablets of 50 mg
Pharmacological Category: Antihypertensive

Indications: This medication is used to control blood pressure in individuals suffering from hypertension.

 

RometaLock®

RometaLock® (Metoprolol Tartrate) is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces heart rate and blood pressure.

Indications for RometaLock®

  • Chronic stable angina

  • Myocardial infarction

  • Chronic hypertension

  • Atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter

  • Supraventricular tachycardia

  • Migraine prophylaxis

  • Ventricular arrhythmia

  • Cardiac symptoms secondary to thyrotoxicosis (hyperthyroidism)

How to Take RometaLock®

Take RometaLock® as prescribed by your doctor and never stop taking it suddenly or without consulting your doctor. It is important to have regular medical supervision during the start, continuation, and cessation of treatment.
Take RometaLock® with food or immediately after meals with a glass of water.

Missed Dose of RometaLock®

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Overdose of RometaLock®

If you take more than the recommended dose, immediately inform your doctor or go to a medical facility.

Monitoring During RometaLock® Use

  • Heart rate

  • Blood pressure

  • Blood sugar in diabetic patients

  • Mental alertness

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)

Contraindications for RometaLock®

  • Allergy to metoprolol tartrate or any of its components

  • Heart conduction disorders (except in patients with a pacemaker)

  • In patients with angina or hypertension with severe bradycardia, cardiogenic shock, severe or untreated heart failure, certain arrhythmias, or severe peripheral vascular disorders

  • In patients with myocardial infarction with severe bradycardia, certain conduction disturbances, low blood pressure, or moderate to severe heart failure

  • Untreated pheochromocytoma

  • Concurrent use with anesthetics that reduce cardiac tissue function

Warnings and Precautions

  • Use metoprolol with caution if there is a history of food or other substance allergies. If any allergic reactions occur, such as hives, itching, redness, swelling or blistering of the skin, wheezing, chest or throat tightness, difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking, or unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat, seek medical attention immediately.

  • Metoprolol may mask the symptoms of hypoglycemia in diabetic patients. Therefore, blood sugar should be monitored carefully.

  • Use metoprolol with caution in patients with liver failure or myasthenia gravis. Inform your doctor if you have a history of either condition.

  • Metoprolol may exacerbate peripheral vascular disease or Raynaud's syndrome. Inform your doctor if you have a history of either condition.

  • Metoprolol may worsen or trigger psoriasis symptoms. Inform your doctor if you have psoriasis.

  • Metoprolol may mask symptoms of hyperthyroidism, such as tachycardia, sweating, hand tremors, anxiety, increased appetite, or weight loss. Therefore, thyroid function should be monitored more closely.

  • For chronic treatment with metoprolol, it is better not to stop the medication during surgery.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Consult your doctor before taking metoprolol during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If the medication is necessary during pregnancy, fetal growth should be closely monitored. The newborn should be monitored for cardiac and respiratory function for 48 hours after birth.

Side Effects of RometaLock®

As with any medication, RometaLock® may cause unwanted side effects, but not everyone will experience them. Possible side effects include:

  • Dizziness, fatigue, weakness, depression

  • Diarrhea, constipation, stomach discomfort, or vomiting

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Shortness of breath and bronchospasm

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using RometaLock® with other medications or supplements.

Packaging

Each package contains 30 tablets (2 blisters of 15 tablets each).

Storage Conditions

  • Store the medication at temperatures below 30°C, away from light and moisture.

  • Use the medication before the expiration date printed on the packaging.

  • Keep the medication out of the reach of children.

  • Do not remove the medication from the original packaging until use.
