Generic name: Losartan Potassium
Dosage form: Film-coated tablets 25 mg and 50 mg
Drug class: Antihypertensive
Indication: This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Lazaro®
Lazaro® (Losartan) blocks the angiotensin II receptor, causing vasodilation and lowering blood pressure.
Indications for Lazaro®
- Treatment of chronic hypertension in adults and children ≥6 years
- Proteinuric chronic kidney disease
- Heart failure
- Acute coronary syndrome
- Post-transplant erythrocytosis
- Myocardial infarction
- Chronic proteinuria in non-diabetic patients
- Marfan syndrome with aortic aneurysm

How to use and dosage
Take exactly as prescribed and do not discontinue treatment without medical advice. Treatment requires close medical supervision at initiation, during therapy, and when discontinuing.
Swallow with a glass of water, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Missed dose
Take as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose.
Overdose
If you take more than prescribed, contact your doctor immediately.
Monitoring during treatment

Blood pressure

Serum electrolytes (e.g., potassium—especially if using potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or potassium salts)

Serum creatinine and urea
Contraindications
-
Hypersensitivity to Losartan or any component of the formulation
-
Concomitant use with Aliskiren in patients with diabetes or moderate-to-severe renal impairment
-
Ascites due to cirrhosis or treatment-resistant ascites
-
Pregnancy
Warnings and precautions
-
Patients with a history of angioedema (swelling of face, lips, throat, or tongue) should be monitored.

Symptomatic hypotension may occur in volume- or salt-depleted patients (e.g., on high-dose diuretics); correct volume status before starting.

Use with caution in aortic or mitral valve stenosis, or hepatic or renal impairment.
Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding
Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Possible side effects
As with any medicine, side effects may occur (not everyone gets them), including:

Acute kidney injury

Hyperkalemia (high potassium)

Dizziness, fatigue, or weakness

Skin rash

Diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting

Cough
Drug interactions

Packaging
Each pack contains 30 tablets (3 blisters × 10 tablets).
Storage

Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture.

Use until the end of the expiry month printed on the pack.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not remove from original package until use.
