Generic name: Buspirone Hydrochloride

Dosage form: 5 mg and 10 mg tablets

Drug class: Antianxiety Agent

Indication: This medication is used for the treatment of anxiety.

Berwin® (buspirone) is an anxiolytic medication that exerts its clinical effects by binding to serotonin and dopamine receptors.

  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Adjunctive treatment of unipolar depression

Oral tablets: 5 mg and 10 mg

  • Take Berwin® exactly as prescribed by your doctor, and always take it either consistently with food or consistently on an empty stomach.
  • Do not stop taking the medication—even if you feel better—without consulting your physician.
  • Avoid consuming large amounts of grapefruit juice during treatment.

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose.

Do not take two doses at the same time or take an extra dose.

If you take more than the prescribed amount, notify your doctor immediately or go to a medical center.

  • Patient’s mental and motor status
  • Excessive increase in heart rate, blood pressure, or body temperature
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Seizures
  • History of hypersensitivity to buspirone or any component of the formulation
  • Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (e.g., moclobemide, selegiline, tranylcypromine) or within 14 days before or after taking buspirone
  • Concomitant use with reversible MAO inhibitors (e.g., linezolid, intravenous methylene blue)
  • Severe hepatic or renal impairment
  • If you experience symptoms such as increased body temperature, irritability, tremor, muscle stiffness, or flushing, consult your doctor immediately.
  • Buspirone may cause drowsiness or dizziness; if this occurs, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
  • If you develop abnormal body movements, twitches, imbalance, or difficulty swallowing or speaking, notify your doctor.
  • Use buspirone with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, or those who have undergone bariatric surgery. Inform your physician if you have any of these conditions.
  • Limited information is available regarding the use of buspirone hydrochloride during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Therefore, its use during pregnancy is not recommended, and alternative medications are preferred unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
  • Use of buspirone hydrochloride during breastfeeding is not recommended.

Not everyone experiences side effects. Possible adverse effects include:

  • Dizziness or drowsiness
  • Irritability
  • Headache
  • Gastrointestinal problems

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using buspirone hydrochloride with any other medications or supplements.

Each package contains 30 tablets (3 blister packs of 10 tablets each).

  • Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture.
  • The medication can be used until the end of the month indicated on the expiration date. Do not use outdated medication.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not remove tablets from the original packaging until use.
