Talajade^®is an iron chelating agent that binds to iron and facilitates its elimination through feces, thereby reducing serum iron levels and the risk of iron deposition in organs.

• Treatment of chronic iron overload in patients with transfusion-dependent thalassemia
• Treatment of chronic iron overload in patients with non–transfusion-dependent thalassemia

Film-coated, scored 360 mg tablet

Talajade^®should be taken exactly as prescribed by the physician. To achieve the best therapeutic outcome, patients should not increase or decrease the dose or duration of treatment without medical consultation.

Take Talajade^®with a glass of water on an empty stomach or after a light, low-fat meal (approximately 250 kcal).

Concomitant use of Talajade^® with aluminum-containing antacids should be avoided.

If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose should be skipped. Do not take a double or extra dose to make up for a missed one.

In case of overdose, immediately contact your physician or seek medical attention.

Known symptoms of deferasirox overdose include:

• Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting
• Hepatic and renal impairment

• Serum iron levels, ferritin, and total iron-binding capacity (TIBC)
• Complete blood count (CBC)
• Renal and hepatic function tests
• Visual and auditory assessment
• Serum electrolytes
• Urinalysis
• Blood glucose levels in diabetic patients
• Skin manifestations (e.g., erythematous patches)
• Signs of gastric ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding

• Hypersensitivity to deferasirox or any component of the formulation
• Severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Patients with advanced malignancies
• Platelet count below 50,000/mm³
• Creatinine clearance below 60 mL/min

In case of hypersensitivity reactions (symptoms may include skin rash, difficulty breathing or swallowing, and swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue), seek immediate medical attention.

In the event of auditory or visual disturbances, severe skin reactions (such as erythematous lesions, skin redness, blistering of the lips and mouth, skin peeling, or lymph node enlargement), hematemesis, black stools, or severe abdominal pain, discontinue deferasirox and seek immediate medical care.

If signs of hepatic dysfunction occur, including drowsiness, vomiting, right upper abdominal pain, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), or dark urine, seek immediate medical attention.

If signs of renal impairment develop, such as decreased urine output, changes in urine volume, hematuria, or significant weight gain, promptly inform your physician.

Deferasirox should be used with caution in elderly patients.

Except in cases of absolute necessity and upon physician’s discretion, the use of deferasirox during pregnancy is not recommended.

Deferasirox may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills. Patients receiving deferasirox should use non-hormonal contraceptive methods (e.g., condoms) to prevent pregnancy.

Deferasirox is not recommended during breastfeeding.

Like all medicines, Deferasirox may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Possible adverse effects include:

• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea and vomiting
• Constipation
• Fatigue, dizziness, headache, anxiety, and insomnia
• Fever
• Sore throat and cough

Each container contains 30 tablets.

• Store the medication at temperatures below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.
• The product may be used until the expiration date indicated on the packaging. Do not use or store expired medication.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not remove the tablets from the original packaging until immediately before use.
