Bismulix®
Generic name: Bismuth subcitrate
Dosage form: 120 mg scored tablet
Drug class: Antidiarrheal
Indications: Mainly used in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection and diarrhea.
Bismulix® is used in Helicobacter pylori eradication regimens. By binding to the gastric mucosal layer, it helps protect the stomach lining against gastric acid and supports faster healing of gastric ulcers.

Take Bismulix® exactly as directed by your physician. If you are unsure about the correct method of use, consult your physician or pharmacist.
Take the tablets with a full glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablets.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, do not take the missed dose. Avoid taking two doses at the same time or taking an extra dose.
In many cases, this medicine is used only when needed. Do not take Bismulix® more than the prescribed amount.
If you take more than the recommended amount, contact your physician.

History of hypersensitivity to bismuth or to any component of the formulation.
- High doses of the medicine may cause neurological adverse effects.
- Bismuth absorbs X-rays and may interfere with diagnostic methods for gastrointestinal diseases.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your physician before using Bismuth subcitrate. It is recommended that this medicine not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Like all medicines, Bismuth subcitrate may cause unwanted side effects along with its desired therapeutic effects, although not everyone experiences them. Possible side effects include:
- Constipation
- Tinnitus
- Darkening of the tongue and stool
Consult your physician or pharmacist about using bismuth subcitrate together with other medicines or supplements.
Each package contains 100 tablets: 10 blister strips of 10 tablets.
- Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.
- The medicine may be used until the end of the month stated in the expiry date on the package. Do not use or store expired medicines.
- Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
- Do not remove the medicine from its original packaging before use.
