Rogepant®
Generic name: Rimegepant
Dosage form: 75 mg Oral disintegrating tablet (ODT)
Pharmacological class: Anti-Migraine
Indications: This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe acute migraine attacks and prevention of headache attacks in patients with chronic migraine.
Rogepant® (Rimegepant) is an anti-migraine medication, which has effects on neural receptors to prevent or treat acute migraine attacks.
- Treatment of moderate to severe acute migraine attacks
- Prevention of headache attacks in patients with chronic migraine
Oral disintegrating tablet (ODT), 75 mg
- Take Rogepant® exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are unsure about the correct usage, consult your doctor or pharmacist. To achieve the best therapeutic results, do not increase or decrease the dose or duration of treatment without consulting your physician.
- Water is not required to take Rogepant®. Simply place the tablet on or under the tongue with dry hands and allow it to dissolve in your saliva.
- Do not crush or chew Rogepant® tablets.
- Do not remove the Rogepant® tablet from its packaging until the exact time of consumption.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed one.
Overdose or toxicity with Rogepant® is unlikely when taken at the doses recommended by your doctor. However, toxicity symptoms may occur if it is taken concurrently with certain other medications. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain
- Severe drowsiness, persistent headache (if overused as a preventive medication)
- Confusion (rare)
- Hives, swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, shortness of breath
- Before starting and during the course of this medication, it is recommended to perform specific diagnostic tests at intervals determined by your physician. These may include renal function tests (including blood creatinine and urea levels), liver enzyme levels, and pregnancy test.
- Inform your treating physician of all other medications you are taking during every visit.
- Keep your doctor updated on your treatment response and progress.
- Hypersensitivity to Rogepant® or any of the excipients in this product (signs of an allergic reaction include skin rash accompanied by difficulty breathing or swallowing, and swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue).
- Avoid using Rogepant® if you suffer from severe hepatic or renal disease
- Concurrent use of certain medications while taking Rogepant® can lead to serious side effects. Therefore, it is vital to inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking to prevent any drug interactions and adverse events.
- Consult your doctor immediately if you experience weakness, lethargy, fever, or confusion while taking Rogepant®.
- Consult your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as blurred vision, severe headache, or dizziness during treatment.
- Consult your doctor immediately if you experience a sudden, temporary loss of consciousness (fainting) while taking Rogepant®.
- If you plan to become pregnant, be sure to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- If you are taking Rogepant® for migraine prevention and plan to become pregnant, it is recommended to discontinue the medication under the supervision of a specialist.
- During pregnancy, the use of Rogepant® must be strictly supervised by a specialist.
- It is best to avoid preventive treatment with Rogepant® during pregnancy.
- Consult your doctor before using Rogepant® while breastfeeding.
Along with its desired therapeutic effects, any medication may cause unwanted side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Potential side effects of this drug include:
- Drug toxicity
- Any skin rash, itching, hives, redness, swelling, blistering, or peeling of the skin (with or without fever); shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, hoarseness; difficulty breathing, speaking, or swallowing; swelling of the face or tongue
- Stomach pain or dyspepsia
- Nausea
- Severe headache, dizziness, visual changes, fainting (increased blood pressure)
- Tingling, numbness, pain, discoloration, or a cold sensation in the fingers or toes (Raynaud's phenomenon)
Consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the usage of Rogepant® alongside any other medications or dietary supplements.
Each pack of Rogepant® contains 8 tablets (2 blisters of 4 tablets each)
- Keep the medication out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture.
- The medication can be used until the final day of the expiration month printed on the packaging. Do not use or store expired medications.
- Keep the medication in its original packaging.
