Generic Name: Sevelamer Carbonate
Formulation: 800 mg Scored, Film-coated tablets

Kolimer®

Kolimer® (Sevelamer Carbonate) is a phosphate binder that binds dietary phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract and reduces its absorption, thereby helping to lower serum phosphate levels.

Indications for Kolimer®

To help reduce serum phosphate levels in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including those undergoing dialysis.

Dosage Forms of Kolimer®

Each tablet contains 800 mg of Sevelamer Carbonate.

Dosage and Administration of Kolimer®

  • Take kolimer® as prescribed by your doctor. If you are unsure how to take it, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Take kolimer® with a glass of water, along with food.

  • Do not chew, crush, or split the tablet.

Missed Dose of kolimer®

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Overdose of kolimer®

If you take more than the recommended dose, immediately inform your doctor or seek medical attention.

Monitoring During Treatment with Sevelamer Carbonate

  • Blood phosphate, calcium, magnesiumm, alkaline phosphatase, and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels

  • 24-hour urine phosphate and calcium

  • Serum components, including bicarbonate and chloride

Contraindications for Sevelamer Carbonate

  • Hypersensitivity to Sevelamer or any of the components of the formulation

  • Hypophosphatemia (abnormally low phosphate levels in the blood)

  • Active gastrointestinal mucosal injury such as necrosis, perforation, or inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis)

  • Gastrointestinal bleeding

Warnings and Precautions for Sevelamer Carbonate

  • This drug should be used with caution in patients with swallowing difficulties, severe constipation, or a history of gastrointestinal surgery. Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions.

  • Sevelamer may lead to deficiencies in vitamins D, E, K, and folic acid. If confirmed by your doctor, you may need supplements to prevent these deficiencies.

  • If severe gastrointestinal issues occur, it is recommended to discontinue Sevelamer.

Use of Sevelamer Carbonate During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before using Sevelamer.

Side Effects of Sevelamer Carbonate

Like any medication, Sevelamer Carbonate may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Some possible side effects include:

  • Constipation

  • Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea

  • Indigestion, bloating, and abdominal pain

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Sevelamer Carbonate alongside other medications or supplements.

Each bottle contains 90 tablets.

Storage Conditions of Kolimer®

  • Store at below 30°C, away from light and moisture.

  • Use before the expiration date on the packaging.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Do not remove the medication from its original packaging until use.
